Carolyn was born in Gainesville, Florida.  She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia Missouri and continued her studies in art at The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Alabama, The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee and The Art Institute of Chicago.  She now lives and works in Birmingham, Alabama.  She is married to an Episcopal priest and has three adult.

 

My work is a visible expression of how I relate and respond to the world.   My paintings are the vehicle through which I  address our common struggle to make sense of our existence and our relationship to God.....our place in the world.

 

 

I hope that the viewer will find an immediacy to my work  that triggers certain images, thoughts, dreams, memories, and visions of the future.  Anything that stimulates or sets our imagination in motion, both humorous and serious, can be of  use on our journey, and bring us joy.
